Dear members of the board of New Taipei Municipal ZhuWei High School,
some weeks ago the board of our Gymnasium Villa Elisabeth in Wildau, Germany, had some interesting meetings with Sabine Weng, the head of the educational department of the Taiwan embassy in Berlin. Our school is very much interested in creating a school partnership with a Taiwanese school as some of our students are learning Chinese at school. Expressing this wish Mrs Weng and her staff worked hard to find a suitable partner for us.
We are very happy that your school was offered as a potential partner and we would like to introduce our school right now.
Gymnasium Villa Elisabeth is a private school, acknowledged by the state of Brandenburg, and was founded in 1994. About 280 students attend our school aiming at receiving the German Abitur after having successfully passed the examinations at the end of year 12. We have not only German students learning here, but also students from abroad, e. g. Russia,Indonesia, China, the Ukraine, Brazil and Mexico.
International exchange and learning of foreign languages as well as getting to know more about cultures of other peoples play a very important role in our school life. That is why we have already school partnerships with schools in Russia, Poland, Italy as well as in China.
Chinese as a language plays a very important role in all our schools. In primary school students start learning the language and then, later on, they can pass exams for Chinese as a foreign language. The Taiwan embassy in Berlin supports this programme with teaching materials and wants to support a school partnership as well.
Our plan is to exchange students and teachers for short and long-term programmes as well as keeping close contact with each other by using the modern means of communication.
The first step to show the willingness of a close cooperation between our two schools could be a memorandum of understanding which contains the first aims of our cooperation.
Please, find attached some more information about our school as well as a brochure. Feel free to have a look at our website which gives you some ideas about school life here.
We are looking forward to hearing from you and to working together on the foundation of our cooperation.
Yours faithfully,
Holger Köhler

Gymnasium Villa Elisabeth begründet weitere Schulpartnerschaft in Asien
Platen signiertes Memorandum of Understanding.
